Calling all artists!
Mayor Helene Schneider recently reached out to the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative with a great idea – to open her office as a rotating exhibit for local artists. The idea is simple – each quarter of 2011 a group of visual artists will be selected to display their work in the Mayor’s office. The opening exhibition will coincide with 1st Thursday and the work will be on display for approximately three months.
What a great demonstration of the power of collaboration! Local artists will gain valuable exposure, Santa Barbara’s thriving art scene will receive much deserved recognition, and our Mayor will be able to showcase Santa Barbara’s talented local artists whenever she holds a meeting in her office at City Hall.
Here’s how it works. Space is limited so most selections will need to be hanging work no larger than 3’X3’ framed. Some limited smaller free-standing pieces may also be considered. If you would like to be considered for this opportunity, please fill out the simple application and submit up to three digital examples of your work through the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative website. The application is available by clicking HERE. You must be registered and logged in to apply. If you do not already have an account, simply click on “Create and Account” on the right side of the home page, or click HERE to register.
The deadline to apply is noon on Friday, February 11, 2011. The selections will be reviewed by a small panel and announced by February 18, 2011. The first opening will coincide with 1st Thursday, March 3, 2011. If you have any difficulties with the registration or application process, our webmaster is available for questions at webmaster@sbartscollaborative.org .
On behalf of the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative and all artists and arts lovers in Santa Barbara, we thank the Mayor for this opportunity!
