I know February is a short month, but I still can’t believe it is time for 1st Thursday already. The days are getting longer and (hopefully) warmer, so it should be a great night to get out to see some art. I will once again be leading the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative’s 1st Thursday Art Crawl to celebrate the evening. If you haven’t joined me on the Art Crawl yet, this is the perfect month to start. We will make our first stop in Mayor Helene Schneider’s office to congratulate the winners of “Art in the Mayor’s Office“. There were around 60 submissions for the contest, and as one of the judges I can tell you that there was lots of wonderful work to choose from, more than we could possibly fit in the office all at once.
From City Hall we’ll head up State Street, hitting a variety of arts venues to highlight the diversity of our local art scene. Our tour will take the route outlined in the map below. I would love to have a huge crowd to bring into the Mayor’s office, so please join us at 5:30 this Thursday, March 3rd in de la Guerra Plaza, just outside City Hall.
