Call for Artists for October’s Art in the Mayor’s Office

Santa Barbara Arts CollaborativeNow that summer is over it’s time to start applying for October’s Art in the Mayor’s Office. There is no theme this time around so we can see what our creative artists choose as their subjects. The application is open to all Santa Barbara area artists and application is free.

We look forward to viewing your work and best of luck to all.

The application deadline is Sept 25th with selection notices going out on or about Sept 30th. The show will be hung the following week and remain up till the end of February. The Mayor will be traveling on Oct 6th so the opening reception will be 1st Thursday November 3rd in the Mayor’s Office from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.

  Calling all artists!

It’s time for another Call For Entries for Art in the Mayor’s Office. This round the theme is is an open call, any subject as long as it’s 2D art. We do an open call every year to get a gauge of what subjects artists are painting and photographing.
This project has been ongoing for 3 yrs and has been viewed by hundreds of visitors to Helene’s office. The art we select comes from a broad range of art representing Santa Barbara’s artists, from professionals to emerging artists. Let’s show what Santa Barbara has to offer.
Space is limited so most selections will need to be hanging ready work no larger than 36 inches tall by 36 inches wide INCLUDING THE FRAME and wire. If you would like to be considered for this opportunity, please fill out the simple application and submit up to three digital examples of your work.
The deadline to apply is midnight  Tuesday, August 25th The selections will be reviewed by a small panel and announced August 28th. The opening will coincide with 1st Thursday, September 3rd along with a reception held in the Mayor’s Office 5-6PM. Santa Barbara Arts CollaborativeHello everyone!  Remember how our awesome mayor opens her office to the public every 3 months or so for a new art show? Well it’s that time again. On this 1st Thursday, February 4th, you can go up to the second floor of City Hall and walk right in to the mayor’s office to see the new artwork on her wall. You can also meet the mayor, which is pretty great. However… you only have an hour. The office is open from 5 – 6.  Mayor Schneider is an art lover and likes to get out to enjoy 1st Thursday herself, so you got to get there early. They’ll shoo you out promptly at 6.

This project is nearly 3 yrs old and has been viewed by hundreds of visitors to Helene’s office. Santa Barbara Arts CollaborativeMayor Helene Schneider and SBAC are pleased and excited to present works by the Santa Barbara Printmakers. The artists on exhibit are: Cody Cambell, Loree Gold, Bay Hallowell, Michael Heffner, Yessy Kim, Patricia Post, Don Zimmerman, Pamela Zwehl-Burke, Elizabeth Manager, and David Graves.

The opening reception is between 5:00 and 6:00pm 1st Thursday, July 3rd. Come meet the Mayor and the artists at City Hall 2nd floor.

You can also join the 1st Art Crawl on the City Hall steps facing De La Guerra Plaza at 5:30pm.
