This is probably the last post I’ll be able to do before the Funk Zone Art Walk tomorrow night. If you want to get a full list of venues and events, go to www.funkzone.net

I hope to see you out there.

THIS FRIDAY!
Opening at Gone Gallery on May 27
“Bygone is a memorial exhibition for the fence that stood at the corner of Yanonali and Helena which served as a living canvas for artists in the Funk Zone. It has been installed in the gallery and we have invited 11 artists to come collaborate on it one last time.”
– there will be individual pieces by the artists as well!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been too busy at work getting ready for the show that opens tomorrow to get up any 1st Thursday previews. That said, I hope you will all come and visit me there. It is our biggest show of the year, called 100 Grand. For this annual holiday show we put 100 works of art in one room that are all priced at $1,000 or less (see why I’ve been so busy?). It is a chance to start an art collection, or even buy something by a well-known artist who is usually out of your price range. Here is a digital preview of the show:

Secondly, you should make sure to stop by the Brad Nack 100% Reindeer show:

ShowFinally the other stop that I’d like to recommend for the more adventurous of you, is not going to be on the 1st Thursday maps. It is an open studio for two of the hottest young artists in town… and it’s in one of the coolest studio spaces in Santa Barbara, just a few feet from the Arlington Theater. PLUS! It is open an hour later than everything else, so it makes a perfect last stop.

Have fun!

This just in from the Facebook universe. One of my favorite local artists need some support. This should be a really great event, and it’s all for a very good cause.  Make sure to add this to your calendar. See you there.

Danny Meza

Art show and fundraiser for DANNY MEZA

Santa Barbara Muralist, Danny Meza, who appeared on the cover of SB Independent was in a bicycle accident when I taxi cut him off on State Street as he was leaving the Funk Zone just finishing his latest installation a few weeks ago.

A tattoo artist by trade , Danny Meza, has no other income and will be out of work and unable to perform his job for up to four months. He has already gone through two surgeries for his face lacerations as well as for his broken arm where a metal plate was needed to fuse the broken bones.

Danny who has donated his own time and resources and energies to many projects around Santa Barbara at schools , community center and more now needs his community.
Andi Garcia, his art manager with The Artillerist and Muddy Waters have put together a FUNraiser art show and event slated for March 27th at 7pm .

DJ Darla Bea of KCSB as well as DJ Tru have donated their musical talents for this event.
