FUNK ZONE PODCAST SET TO CELEBRATE 100 EPISODES WITH LIVE SHOW Nov. 18, 2016 fundraiser also benefits Slingshot

Santa Barbara, CA – On Friday, November 18, show creator Ted Mills will host the 100th episode of his popular arts interview podcast, The FunkZone Podcast, as a live event at live-work-art space, SBCAST.

Ted Mills has spent the last two years interviewing artists and creative people from Santa Barbara and beyond, in hour-long conversations about art and life and “why artists do what they do.” Even with limited promotion, the show has steadily grown, earning up to 250 listeners a day. Eighty percent of the audience comes from the United States (and 30 percent of those from the tri-county area). The FunkZone Podcast is doing its part to help Santa Barbara’s art scene become known nationally and internationally.

Previous guests have included: painters Jeremy Harper, Jill Sattler, Julie B. Montgomery, and Derek Harrison, musician Parry Gripp, artists R. Nelson Parrish and Nancy Gifford, curator Frank Goss, and many more, including authors, restauranteurs, comedians, directors, poets, and photographers.

The Live 100th Episode show will be presented in a talk show format, with surprise guests, music, and special video presentations. A silent auction will offer deals in art and in culture, while food, wine, and beer will be on sale.

Proceeds of the show will go to Slingshot, a 501c3 non-profit that gives artists with developmental disabilities a chance to create work, and SBCAST will be devoting one of its galleries that night to display and sell their art.

This promises to be a major night as Ted Mills looks back on the 100 plus guests he’s had on the show, how he’s created a historical record on the state of the arts in and around Santa Barbara, and raises money to take the show to the next level in the coming year.

If you haven’t ever visited the studio where TVSB is located, this is your chance. It is a non-traditional art space, to say the least. But that is part of what makes it so interesting, and absolutely worth a visit. unnamed
