Buddha Doodles by Mollycules

I remember very clearly the first time I saw the work of Mollycules at Muddy Waters many years ago. Since that time I have collected her illustrations and purchased her recent children’s books for my niece. I’m a big fan.

I’m also a big fan of local retailer Plum Goods, which has been a great supporter of local arts for quite some time. On this coming 1st Thursday you can check out both when Mollycules signs copies of her latest book at the store. Check out the details below.

Huffington Post Cartoonist Molly Hahn (Mollycules) will be hosting a book signing for her second compilation of daily comics, Buddha Doodles, at Plum Goods in Santa Barbara, CA on Thurs., Dec. 6th from 5 to 7pm.

She is also scheduled to have a signing at the Gibeon Wellness Center in Santa Barbara, CA on Sunday, Dec. 9th from 2-5pm.

“Buddha Doodles” are whimsically illustrated affirmations created every morning upon waking. Mollycules started the practice in the fall of 2011 as a way to begin each new day on the “right foot”. The comic has quickly gained international popularity and has a quickly increasing fan base.

Molly recently appeared on the new Huffington Post Live TV channel to discuss her comic.

Her team recently succeeded in raising over five thousand dollars to create the Buddha Doodles Smart Phone App.

A percentage of her books sales are donated to Kiva.org –  a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.

Happy 4th of July!

Save some energy for 1st Thursday tomorrow. Below you will find a map of our planned itinerary. I’d love to have you join us. We’ll start in the Mayor’s Office, so make sure to be on time. The mayor closes her office promptly so she can get out to see 1st Thursday for herself, so we’ll be getting out of there right at 5:45.  This will also be the last time we’ll have the opportunity to visit the studio of the gifted young artist, Derek Harrison. For those who have joined us for our passed visits, it has always been a really incredible highlight of the evening, so don’t miss out on the chance to see this place before Derek leaves us for LA.
